As part of an ongoing commitment to delivering the best possible patient care and a dedication to staff education, St. Luke’s Hospital is hosting the Kimberly-Clark Healthcare Associated Infection (HAI) Education Bus onsite on May 9, 2008 from 9 am-3 pm.
The HAI Educational Tour is part of a larger initiative by Kimberly-Clark called “Not On My Watch,” a national infection prevention campaign for healthcare professionals. As part of the campaign the bus is visiting 39 hospitals in eight months.
Delivering continuing medical education (CME) and continuing education (CE) programs based on the latest research, the HAI Education Bus provides doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals with a convenient setting aboard a 45-foot customized bus that includes workstations and is outfitted for video and audio presentations.
Participants can update their knowledge of healthcare-associated infections (HAI) through interactive educational programs.
The following education courses will be available on the HAI education bus:
- Ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP): reducing the risks
- Nurse’s role in preventing VAP
- Surgical site infections: overview and impact
- Disinfection and sterilization: New CDC/HICPAC guidelines
- Preventing the spread of airborne infections diseases
- MRSA: Time for action
