Over one hundred St. Luke’s associates impacted by the flood are the beneficiaries of donations collected by their colleagues.
St. Luke’s Health Care Foundation has announced that $768,000 was donated to the St. Luke’s “We Care Fund.” The Foundation created the fund immediately after the June flood. The money was donated by St. Luke’s associates, the hospital, Iowa Health System, St. Luke’s Health Care Foundation and gift cards donated by Dr. Chirantan Ghosh.
The St. Luke’s Flood Relief Associate Committee divided the funds in the following manner.
· St. Luke’s associates with homes that have been marked with a red or purple placard will receive $10,508.
· St. Luke’s associates with homes that have been marked with a yellow placard will receive $5,254.
· St. Luke’s Associates who were temporarily relocated will receive $1,050.
“I have always known St. Luke’s associates were generous in the care they give to patients, but to see their generosity extended in raising these funds is truly amazing,” said Shannon Duval, St. Luke’s Health Care Foundation president. “This outpouring of support shows how deeply our associates care.”
There were 107 St. Luke’s associates that applied for the funds. St. Luke’s Health Care Foundation is holding back $120,000 to assist with future needs, but once it is determined those needs have been met, the remaining amount will be distributed.
