Starting in February St. Luke’s Hospital Spiritual Care Department will offer a class entitled, “Introduction to Spiritual Companioning.” This class will explore and develop an individual’s understanding of the call to offer God’s care through companioning others.
Participants will examine effective ways of offering spiritual care and companionship as well as sharing personal experiences of receiving care. Included will be the study of biblical models of spiritual companioning with emphasis on the book of Job. Individuals will learn to enhance listening through discussion, sharing our stories and role-playing.
This class is a prerequisite for anyone interested in volunteering in St. Luke’s Spiritual Care Department but it is open to anyone who is currently giving care or accompanying someone on their life journey.
The class will be held Tuesday evenings from 6-9 p.m. starting February 16 through March 30. The last class will include a dinner and sending forth.
The class fee is $100, which includes: materials for each session, a notebook for journaling, snacks and beverages and a copy of the book, Kitchen Table Wisdom.
