St. Luke’s hosting free program on childhood obesity

urrently, 30 percent of kids in the United States are overweight – and that number continues to grow steadily. The dangers of being overweight as a child range from low self-esteem to Type II diabetes, heart disease and many more. Would you be surprised to hear that kids are now being prescribed cholesterol-lowering medication? As a parent, grandparent or educator, there is plenty you can do to help.

Attend this program to learn from pediatric cardiologist Dr. Mark Zittergruen about the growing epidemic of childhood obesity, the associated risks, and advice for getting back to and maintaining a healthy weight.
