St. Luke’s recognizing doctors this week!

 In celebration of National Doctors’ Day, St. Luke's Hospital is thanking doctors for their care, compassion and dedication by planning special events this week. National Doctors’ Day is March 30.

Doctors play a vital role in caring for the sick and promoting good health. They are important to the community, not only as caregivers, but also as neighbors, and leaders in many city and community groups.

Doctor’s Week events at St. Luke’s – Week of March 30:

  • Monday – Hugs & Kisses (Hershey) on the units and in Administration; beverage of choice from Brewed Awakenings.
  • Tuesday – (Doctor’s Day) – Caramels and Operation games in Operating Room and first floor lounges. Additionally, notes of thanks written by appreciate patients will be delivered personally to physicians.
  • Wednesday – Doctors will be treated to a special lunch in Operating Room and first floor lounges.
  • Thursday – Wii “Survivor” games and Operation games in OR and first floor lounges.
  • Friday – Massages in Operating Room lounge over lunch hour.


The United States House of Representatives adopted a resolution commemorating Doctors’ Day on March 30, 1958. In 1990, legislation was introduced into the United States House of Representatives and United States Senate to establish a National Doctors Day. Following overwhelming approval by the House and Senate, then-President George Bush signed a resolution designating March 30 as National Doctors’ Day. The first National Doctors’ Day was celebrated in 1991.
