Free mammograms and pap tests for uninsured women

Mammograms and pap tests can find breast and cervical cancer early, before any noticeable symptoms, when treatments are most successful. But for women with no health insurance, these routine tests may cost too much. However, thanks to the work of multiple organizations in Cedar Rapids there is a way for women to get these lifesaving tests free during Well Women Week April 12-16.

What: Free mammograms and pap tests

Who:  Women age 19-39 with no medical insurance qualify for a free pap test. * Women age 40-64 with no medical insurance qualify for a free pap and mammogram. *

When/How:  Appointments are required, and will be accepted beginning March 1, 2010 on a first come, first served basis for the week of April 12-16. * Income guidelines apply. Please call 319/892-6019 to make an appointment.

Community partners responsible include: Jones Regional Medical Center, Mercy Women’s Center/Mercy Mobile Unit, Planned Parenthood of East Central Iowa (Cedar Rapids & Monticello), RCI Imaging Center, St. Luke’s Breast and Bone Health, St. Luke’s Family Health Center (Iowa Health Physicians Vinton & Anamosa) and Vinton Family Medical Clinic.
