St. Luke's Hospice Volunteer Opportunities
Patient and Family Support Volunteers
- Visiting, reading, taking walks, writing letters, listening to music, comforting, sharing a laugh, providing reassurance and discussing treasured memories or current events
- Spending quiet time with a patient
- Assistance with errands and light housekeeping
Respite Volunteers
Volunteers may stay with the patient so that caregivers can attend to errands and have time to take care of themselves
11th Hour Volunteers
Sit with a patient during their final hours so they are not alone
Bereavement Volunteers
- Make telephone contact with family members to provide a listening ear and support
- Assist with memorial services
- Provide companionship to bereaved family and friends
Administrative Support Volunteers
- Filing
- Copying
- Data entry
- Assist with mailings
- Help the Volunteer Coordinator with New Volunteer Orientation
Community Awareness Volunteers
- Assist with fundraising activities, including the annual Hospice Quilt
- Help with special events
- Serve as an ambassador for St. Luke's Hospice
Transitions Program Volunteers
Serve as a patient and family volunteer for those experiencing a chronic illness
