Stroke

About 700,000 Americans suffer a new or recurrent stroke each year. That means, on average, a stroke occurs every 45 seconds. The effects of a stroke can be devastating for both the individual and their family. It's important to call 9-1-1 immediately if someone is showing signs of a stroke.

Stroke warning signs

  • Sudden numbness or weakness of the face, arm or leg, especially on one side of the body
  • Sudden confusion, trouble speaking or understanding
  • Sudden trouble seeing in one or both eyes
  • Sudden trouble walking, dizziness, loss of balance or coordination
