Neurodiagnostic Lab

St. Luke's Neurodiagnostic Lab offers testing that helps diagnose disorders and diseases of the brain, spinal cord and nervous system. The primary tests performed in the lab include electroencephalogram (EEG), electromyography (EMG) and Evoked Potentials.

  • An EEG, also known as the "brain wave test," records electrical activity from the brain through electrodes placed on a patient's head.
  • An EMG evaluates nerve and muscle function to detect neuromuscular disorders.
  • Evoked Potentials testing looks at disruptions in nerve pathways by measuring how long it takes an impulse to travel from a point of stimulation through the spinal cord to the brain.
