Injury Prevention

St. Luke's Sports Medicine team believes preventing injuries is just as important as treating injuries. That’s why we work alongside our athletes through all of their training and competitions to promote a safe, optimal sports experience.

We believe it is important for athletes to:

  • Wear the right gear. Players should wear appropriate and properly fit protective equipment such as pads (neck, shoulder, elbow, chest, knee, shin), helmets, mouthpieces, face guards, protective cups and/or eyewear.
  • Strengthen muscles. Conditioning exercise before games and during practice strengthens muscles used in play.
  • Increase flexibility. Stretching exercises before and after games or practice can increase flexibility..
