Pediatric Cardiology

St. Luke's Pediatric Cardiology focuses on the heart care needs of infants, children, and adolescents, as well as the concerns of their families. Our practice is exclusively geared towards children, from our kid-friendly exam rooms to our experienced staff. Providing the highest level of care for your child is our primary concern. We're dedicated to your child’s heart health and future well-being.

Coming in for an appointment?

If your child is scheduled to have an echocardiogram (echo) prior to their office visit, please consider the following:

  • Bring your child's favorite DVD that we can play during the exam to help them feel comfortable.
  • It is helpful for toddlers and infants if you can avoid napping prior to the exam - this way they often sleep through testing.
  • For infants, please try to avoid bottle feeding prior to testing - this way they can be fed during the exam to keep them occupied.
  • Please do not schedule your child's immunizations for the same day as their echocardiogram. They often don't feel well following injections and it can make testing difficult.

For all appointments where a chest x-ray is needed, it must be completed two days before the scheduled appointment. Bring the x-ray film(s) with you to your child's appointment.

If you are unable to get the chest x-ray completed two days prior to the appointment, please call 319/368-5757 to reschedule your appointment. We cannot see your child without access to a completed chest x-ray film.

To make the best use of your time when you are here, please consider the following policies:

  • We ask that a maximum of two adults accompany the child to their visit.
  • In the instance that someone other than a child's biological parent will be accompanying them, we require authorization from the parent(s) or proof of guardianship at the time of the appointment.
  • Patients under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

You will receive a reminder phone call the day prior to the scheduled appointment. We look forward to meeting you and your child!
