Child Protective Center Services

In addition to providing child-sensitive psychosocial interviews and medical exams, the Child Protection Center also provides:

Patient advocacy services

Advocacy is a high priority at the Child Protection Center. The Patient Advocate helps children and families navigate through the system, assisting the child and family to receive appropriate services.

Child abuse prevention services

The Child Protection Center emphasizes the importance of prevention and education to eradicate child abuse. The Center provides the SAFETOUCH program to children in daycare centers, preschools and kindergarten through 5th grade classrooms. More than 6,000 children every year are reached through the CPC's SAFETOUCH presentations.  We use videos and curriculum written with a strong preventive focus based upon the basic developmental stages of children.

 The SAFETOUCH program:

  • Uses understandable language, illustrations, and age appropriate materials.
  • Assures child victims they are not alone.
  • Emphasizes a positive approach of empowering children with personal protection strategies.

If you are interested in obtaining SAFETOUCH for your school or preschool, please call the Child Protection Center Patient Advocate at 319/369-7908.
